should be warned that you need to plan well
in advance, usually at least six months.
Ideally both parties should live in Spain. If
both parties live abroad, there are ways to
resolve this but it does take a longer time
and you should be prepared for this.
Both applicants must apply in person at a
Civil Registry Office with a witness (who does
not necessarily have to be the witness on
your big day). Before doing so there are a

collated and presented with the Petition.

An up to date Certified copy of the Birth
Certificate of both applicants issued by the Civil
Registry in their place of birth, apostilled and
translated into Spanish.
Sworn declaration of marital status for both,
Certificate of Residence (for residents),
Census Certificate (Certificate de Padron) for
both applicants. At least one of the applicants
must be on the census.
